The Dubai Marina Guide: Where to Walk, Eat, and Spend Your Time

LEzlOe G 1

Dubai Marina is the kind of neighbourhood that earns its reputation. A 3.5km waterfront promenade, dozens of restaurants, and a skyline that photographs well from every angle. If you’re staying nearby, here’s what’s actually worth your time — from someone who’s been here since 2020.

The Walk

Start at Marina Mall and walk the full length of the promenade towards JBR. Do it in the morning before 9am or after 7pm — midday in warmer months is not ideal. The walk takes about 40 minutes at a relaxed pace and passes the marina’s working yacht berths, café terraces, and some of the city’s more interesting modern architecture.

Where to Eat

Pier 7 is the obvious choice — seven restaurants stacked in one building, all with marina views. The quality varies, so book ahead for Atelier M or Asia Asia if you want the atmosphere without the risk. For something lower-key, the independent spots along The Walk at JBR are better value and easier to get into on short notice.

What Most Guests Miss

The Dubai Marina Mall rooftop cinema. It runs seasonally and it’s one of those experiences that most visitors don’t know exists until someone mentions it. Check what’s on before your trip.

Also worth a look: the dhow dinner cruises that depart from the marina. Tourist? Slightly. Worth it for a group meal? Actually yes — the city looks different from the water.

Getting Around

The Dubai Metro (Red Line) connects the Marina to Downtown and the airport. The tram runs through the Marina itself and connects to the metro at DMCC station. For late nights or groups, a taxi or Careem is fine — distances in Dubai are longer than they look on the map.
